Sherbet Clipboard for macOS

Every clipboard gives back what you copied. Sherbet knows where it goes.

A native Mac clipboard manager that learns which field each value belongs in, then fills it. Your email in the email box, your address in the address box. Your data never leaves your Mac.

Used by more than 50,000 people worldwide. Free to use, with a 7-day Pro trial.

How it works

You do one thing. Sherbet Clipboard does the other two.

  1. Done above

    You copy something.

Every clipboard manager does this part.

  2. Done above

    It notices where that lands.

Paste or type into a box and it remembers that this value belongs in that box, in that app. It never learns from a password box.

  3. Done above

Next time it is already there.

Focus that box again and the value is waiting in the notch. Take it with ⌘⇧V, or ignore it and it goes. If it guessed wrong, one click and it never suggests there again.

Autofill

Sites you have never opened. Whole forms at once.

It also recognises what a box is for, so your details are offered on a signup page it has never seen. There is no learning period.

And ⌘⇧D fills the lot. You see the list first, nothing is typed until you press Enter, and anything it is unsure about arrives switched off.

Full name First name Last name Email Phone Street address City Postal code Country Organization National ID

Outlined: the boxes in the form above.

The clipboard

A history you can actually find things in.

Searchable history, folders that survive a clear, tags, all of it on the keyboard. ⌘D opens, typing searches, Enter pastes.

Your data never leaves your Mac.

This is a program that reads your form fields, remembers what you put in the ones it recognises, and types things for you. You are right to want to know where that goes.

  • No cloud, no analytics, no sync.

No crash reporter either. What you copy, type and fill is read and stored on this Mac and nowhere else.

  • Your data is a folder you can open.

Plain JSON files and your copied images, here: ~/Library/Application Support/Sherbet Drag it to the trash and everything is forgotten. There is no other copy.

  • Copied passwords never reach the history.

1Password, Bitwarden, KeePassXC and Strongbox all flag a copied secret, and Sherbet Clipboard skips anything they flag. Apple's Passwords app flags nothing, so it starts on the ignore list, menu bar included.

  • Apps you name are invisible to it.

Nothing captured from them, nothing suggested inside them, nothing learned there. Or pause capturing entirely.

The full policy, including the two network connections: Privacy policy.

Yes, it asks for Accessibility. This is exactly what for.

macOS puts three abilities behind that one switch and Sherbet Clipboard uses all three: knowing which field you are in, what it is called and, in a field it recognises, what you type there, listing a form's fields when you ask it to, and pressing ⌘V for you when you accept a suggestion. There is no narrower permission that grants any of them.

It reads what a box is called and, in an email, phone, name, address or company box, what you typed into it - never the page around it, and never a password box. It cannot see your screen and it never asks for Screen Recording. Decline it and you have a clipboard manager: the history works, the autofill never appears, and it will not ask you twice.

Two things it does read. When you copy an image, it reads the text inside it on your Mac, so a screenshot is findable by what it says. When you type into a box it recognises - an email, a phone number, a name, an address, a company - it remembers the value to offer there next time. Both happen on device like everything else, secrets are skipped, and you can switch each off in Privacy.

Questions

Questions worth asking.

I already have clipboard history in Raycast. Why switch?

For the history alone, you probably should not. Raycast's is good and it is already on your Mac. The only question worth asking is whether you want the boxes filled too, because that is the part no clipboard manager does, and it is the entire reason this one exists. If your email appearing on a site you have never opened does not sound useful, Sherbet Clipboard has nothing to offer you.

Does the autofill work in Chrome, Safari and Arc?

Yes, and in Dia, Brave and Edge. Native Mac apps work the same way.

What happens if I do not grant Accessibility?

It becomes an ordinary clipboard manager. History, search, folders, tags, editing and paste-on-Enter all work. The notch never appears, Fill All finds nothing, and the magic paste shortcut does nothing. You can grant it later, or never.

Could it remember one of my passwords?

Three separate mechanisms exist to stop that. Password managers mark a copied secret, and anything carrying that mark is dropped before it is stored. Apple's Passwords app and Keychain Access mark nothing, so they start on Sherbet's ignore list, which covers the Passwords menu bar too. Anything that gets past is checked again by a deliberately over-eager credential test before it can ever become an autofill candidate, which is tuned to throw away things it is unsure about. It does not learn passwords from typing either: it never reads a password box, and while macOS's password protection is on it reads only the box you just left, after checking that box is not a password box.

None of this covers a password you copy from anywhere else. If you copy one out of a plain text file, treat it as being in your history, and clear it.

Does anything reach my iPhone or my other Mac?

No. When a value is put on the clipboard to fill a box it is marked this-machine-only, so it does not travel over Universal Clipboard the way an ordinary copy would. There is no sync of any kind.

Can I keep it out of certain apps?

Yes. An app on the ignored list is fully insulated: nothing is captured from it, nothing is suggested inside it, and nothing is learned there. You can also pause capturing altogether from the menu bar, and set history to be forgotten after 7, 30 or 90 days.

Do I need an account?

No. Free needs nothing at all. If you upgrade to Pro you get a licence key by email and paste it into the app once. There is no sign-in, no profile and no password. Sherbet makes two kinds of network connection, a licence check and an update check, and neither carries anything you copy, type or fill; every value it stores stays a file on your own disk. The privacy policy says exactly what each one sends.

Is it really free?

Yes. Sherbet is free to download and keeps working as a clipboard history for good; Pro adds the autofill (the Free plan lists exactly what stays on). Every install starts with a 7-day Pro trial of the complete app, with no card and no account. When it ends you are on Free, nothing is deleted, and everything reappears the moment you upgrade.

What happens to my clips if I cancel Pro?

Your history is five plain JSON files in your own Library folder. They are not encrypted, not held anywhere else, and nothing uploads them, so they stay exactly where they are and stay readable. If you cancel, Pro lasts until the end of the period you paid for, then Sherbet carries on as Free while the rest of your history waits, undeleted, for you to upgrade again. The terms have the full wording.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Email support@sherbetapps.com within 14 days of your first payment and it is refunded, no questions asked. Renewals are not covered, but you can cancel at any time in the customer portal, before one charges. See the refund policy.

Who do I ask for help?

Support has the address and what to include. A licence key that is stuck on an old Mac can be released from Settings, then Tools & Licence, without writing to anyone. If that Mac is gone, deactivate it yourself at My Orders on Lemon Squeezy, signing in with the email you bought with.

Copy something. Watch where it turns up.

Check it yourself: copy your email once, then open any sign-up form.
